Division II South Atlantic B District Tournament, Championship – it’s a big title and brings a lot of clout to the world of NJCAA Athletics.  FTCC men’s basketball has earned the honor of competing for the coveted title this weekend in Fayetteville against Florida Gateway, an opportunity not taken lightly.

Since returning home this week from a disappointing loss to number #1 seed, Davidson-Davie Community College, Trojans have been back on the court, perfecting their skills, for another chance to go to the big dance in Danville, Illinois from March 15-19, 2022.

FTCC basketball coach, Brian Hurd says, “we’re getting back in the swing of things in practice.  Some of the guys are banged up and are receiving treatment from the athletic training staff daily.  We are preparing for Florida Gateway by breaking film down and going over the scouting reports created by the coaching staff.  Mentally, we are working through some adversity from a tough loss this past Saturday, but have set our focus on doing our best to win the South Atlantic District Championship.  Right now, to the staff and players, this is the only game that matters.  We always take a one game at a time approach.”

During the game, Hurd and his Trojan team feed off the energy emanating from the crowd.  Hurd says, “we are looking forward to getting back to action in front of our families, students and fans that have been so incredible by showing up and giving us a spark of energy every game.  We can’t wait to see everyone show up to the game!”
