FAYETTEVILLE, NC – March 17, 2017 – Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) announced today that it will host a press conference on Monday, March 27, 2017, to share the impact of the NC Community College System’s 58 schools including representatives from colleges within the Sandhills zone.

The event, which will take place on FTCC’s Fayetteville Campus in the Tony Rand Student Center Multipurpose Room, will feature the presidents from six community colleges in North Carolina’s Sandhill Zone addressing the media.  It is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to FTCC’s President J. Larry Keen, presidents from Bladen, Montgomery, Robeson, Sampson, and Southeastern community colleges will participate.  They will discuss success stories along with the value community colleges add to the communities they serve.  They will also share the impact their respective colleges have on their communities, such as workforce and economic development, innovation, affordability, and accessibility.

Elected officials from the NC General Assembly and county and local governments have also been invited to attend and participate in the discussions.  Senator Wesley Meredith (Cumberland County Delegation) will speak and address the state’s budget priorities.

Fayetteville Technical Community College was established in 1961 and serves over 40,000 students annually by providing over 200 occupational, technical, general education, college transfer, and continuing education programs to meet students’ needs and desires as well as the community.
