Five former students in FTCC’s C-STEP will return to campus this week to share their experiences in the Career Expo Day.

The Carolina Student Transfer Excellence Program (C-STEP) is a partnership between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and in-state community colleges that provides opportunities for talented low- and moderate-income students.

FTCC students accepted into C-STEP who have completed all requirements will be guaranteed admission to UNC Chapel Hill.

The Career Expo Day event will include guests from the local business and professional community, as well as these former students, and will give current FTCC students information about how to accomplish their educational and career goals.

The event is Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to the Tony Rand Student Center.

FTCC alumni Charles McMillian, Shannon Bell, DeSiyre Spurgeon, Brandon Perez and Tony Mellon, all of whom participated in C-STEP, will be at the expo to discuss their paths and the opportunities FTCC and C-STEP provided.

The former students have worked in fields ranging from the FBI, cybersecurity, business and education.
