FAYETTEVILLE, NC – December 19, 2018 – Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) announced today that the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted during the Commissioners’ December 17 meeting to gift the J.P. Riddle Stadium, passing ownership to the College. FTCC will begin using the Stadium during the spring of 2019 in conjunction with the FTCC Trojan’s inaugural season for men’s baseball.

The men’s baseball teams of Fayetteville Technical Community College and Freedom Christian Academy (Fayetteville, NC) will join the Fayetteville SwampDogs in utilizing the field and stadium. “We’ve been partners with FTCC for a number of years and are looking forward to the next step in our relationship,” said Jeremy Aagard, SwampDogs general manager.

“We thank the Cumberland County Commissioners for this opportunity to be associated with the J.P. Riddle Stadium and to continue the Riddle family’s intent to share this asset with the citizens of Cumberland County,” said Dr. Larry Keen, FTCC president. “The gifting of the stadium to the College provides opportunities for three organizations to use the ballpark for men’s baseball training, activities, and games. For FTCC, the gifting also represents unique educational opportunities involving engagement of FTCC staff, faculty, and students representing various academic program areas in support of the use, upgrade, maintenance, and promotion of FTCC events at the property.”

Fayetteville Technical Community College was established in 1961 and serves over 40,000 students annually by providing over 250 occupational, technical, general education, college transfer, and continuing education programs to meet students’ needs and desires as well as the community.
