We couldn’t let the 2022 FTCC baseball season get too far into the schedule without congratulating Coach Nic Love on a great opening weekend!

Coach Love was recently presented the winning ball from the January 30, 2022 game against Wake Technical Community College.  It was a nail biter for fans who braved the chilly weather at J.P. Riddle Stadium to support our Trojans in a 4-3 victory.

FTCC Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Shannon Yates says it was more than just a win for Coach Love, “It was his first win as a Trojans Head Coach!”  Coach Love comes to us from Paul D. Camp Community College where he served as Associate Head Coach.  Moving to FTCC was a decision that appears to be moving his career in the right direction.

A “special moment” is how Coach Love describes getting the first win of the season under his belt as a Head Coach and a Trojan.  The players showed resilience throughout the day and were able to win the battle during a walk off victory on home turf.

The coveted game ball was presented to Coach Love by FTCC President, Larry Keen, Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Services, Dr. Mark Sorrells, as well as Dr. Shannon Yates, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Coach Love says, “It’s a game I will always remember.  It’s just one of many memorable victories to come for FTCC baseball.
