Finish Line Grant

The purpose of the Finish Line Grant program is to help students complete their academic training when facing unforeseen financial hardships.  When students face financial emergencies through no fault of their own, funds from the Finish Line Grant can be used for:

• course materials,
• housing,
• medical needs,
• dependent care or
• other financial emergencies. 

Updated requirements as of March 27, 2024: Students enrolled in courses that fulfill 25% (was 50%) of an approved FTCC program and who maintained a 2.0 grade point average might be eligible for a Finish Line Grant. Qualifying students may apply for up to a thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per semester to help pay for financial emergencies.

Because the intended use of the Finish Line Grant application is financial assistance for an unforeseen emergency situation, please be prepared to submit all requested documentation within 48 hours of the date of your application. If the requested documentation is not received within 48 hours, you will be asked to submit a new application.  Examples of supporting documentation that may be requested include a copy of:

• repair quote,
• unpaid utility bill,
• unpaid medical bill,
• written quote from the FTCC (or other) bookstore or
• lease agreement

Expenses Allowed when applying for the Finish Line Grant

• Dependent care
• Emergency auto repairs (not normal maintenance)
• Transportation
• Rent
• Referrals to healthcare (eyeglasses, physical and dental care and other medical-related payments)
• Utility bill
• Tuition/fee/supplies (limited)

Expenses Not Allowed when applying for Finish Line Grant

• Title and deeded items (rent or housing deposit, mortgage payments, property taxes)
• Fines and late fees attached to any payments listed above under “Expenses Allowed”
• Food
• Purchase of vehicles
• Business startup cost
• Purchase of TVs, video games or household items not required for educational needs
• Emergency expense already covered by another source
