Energy Efficiency, Recycling & Sustainability
The FTCC Facilities Services Department is committed to implementing principles of sustainability, monitors and takes steps to reduce energy consumption, and maintains a robust recycling program.
Energy Efficiency
The management of energy and efforts to improve the energy profile of the campus are an important component of Facilities Services. Some aspects are:
- Using a computerized Building Automated System (BAS) that schedules and controls the heating, ventilation & cooling equipment throughout campus.
- Buildings are programmed to provide conditioned indoor air in an energy-efficient manner.
- The Facilities Department is in the process of converting all campus light fixtures to light- emitting diode (LED).
- Interior fixtures are upgraded as renovation projects are performed.
- LED fixtures consume 50% less energy than traditional fluorescent fixtures.
- Occupancy sensors or timers have been installed on lights in low-traffic areas such as storage rooms or bathrooms.
- Monitoring of electric and water bills on a monthly basis, looking for variances and other anomalies. Such variances are promptly investigated in order to correct deficiencies.
- The campus implemented policies to:
- Drastically reduce energy consumption during breaks in the academic schedule.
- Encourage staff to turn off equipment and lights when not in use.
Event & Room Scheduling
Scheduling of rooms and outdoor spaces, such as the Fayetteville Rose Garden & Student Terrace, can be accomplished through the use of the FTCC’s 25Live scheduling software.

Moves of faculty and staff within a building or to another building are complicated events that require coordination and oversight. In addition, documentation of moves is essential for adequate management of campus space, and for management of computers, delivery of mail, and management of phone systems.
Definition
- An office move involves the move of computers, file cabinets, and miscellaneous office equipment.
- Phone system equipment, office furniture, desks, and chairs typically remain in place.

Work Orders
The campus uses an online work order system to generate and track requests for routine maintenance and facilities services work. The online system can be accessed by clicking on a maintenance icon on your desktop computer. Specific directions on how to fill out a work request are provided below.
Facility Services uses Kace self-service. You will have to choose from the drop-down box to item #2 Facilities. Click the login box. Click into the Need help? Report it box. Describe your request in detail in the white fill-in box. To the right, you will need to use the down arrows to pick your Problem Type, Location, Area, room number and Contact Number. It will not allow you to submit if one of these has not been answered. Any diagrams or other attachments you will enter them in the Related Ticket Information box. Choose file and attach. Please click Apply Changes then Save. Facility Services will forward your ticket to the appropriate department(s). You may call or email Facilities if you have any changes to your work order. Please do not create another work order as this may cause a delay in getting it completed.

Items that do not require a work order:
Emergencies
Emergencies are defined as those problems requiring immediate action to restore or avoid interruption of such essential services as electricity, water, gas, heat, air conditioning, and plumbing, or to correct those conditions which are considered hazardous to personnel or students, equipment and facilities (life safety).

Renovation Projects
Renovations to facilities (carpet replacement, painting, classroom or lab upgrades, office) are requested through submission of a F-2 Estimate and C-21 Project Approval form and are subject to administrative review and approval.
