Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) has received a donation of advanced airway management equipment from LifeLink Critical Care of Cape Fear Valley Health to support hands-on training in the college’s Emergency Medical Science (EMS) program.

The donation includes two GlideScope Go video laryngoscopy systems, two reusable rigid stylets, and multiple disposable video laryngoscope blades. The equipment, valued at approximately $15,000 to $22,000, will significantly enhance the program’s instructional resources and training capabilities.

The GlideScope Go is a portable video laryngoscope designed for advanced airway management. Equipped with a high-resolution monitor and a camera-mounted blade, it provides real-time visualization of the vocal cords during endotracheal intubation. This advanced technology improves both the success rate and safety of the procedure, particularly in patients with difficult airways.

“LifeLink Critical Care’s donation ensures our students are learning with the same cutting-edge technology used daily in the field,” FTCC EMS Program Director Pamela Lowther said. “Having access to real equipment that paramedics rely on strengthens student competency and confidence before they enter clinical or field settings.”

The donated equipment will be used to train FTCC paramedic students in video-assisted intubation and other airway management techniques, which are essential skills for emergency medical professionals. By integrating this technology into coursework and simulation labs, FTCC aims to better prepare graduates for real-world emergency care environments.

“Supporting the next generation of EMS professionals is vital to the future of prehospital care,” said David Bomberry, LifeLink Critical Care Training and Compliance Officer. “We’re proud to partner with FTCC and invest in the education of students who will one day provide life-saving care across our community.”

The EMS program at FTCC prepares students for careers as paramedics and emergency medical technicians through classroom instruction, lab simulation, and clinical experience. The addition of this new equipment aligns training with current hospital and prehospital airway management standards.
