Caroline Rivers graduated from FTCC and Cumberland Polytechnic High School on May 16, 2025. As a dual-enrolled student, she earned both her high school diploma and an associate degree in Criminal Justice Technology — Forensic Science. Students enrolled in Cumberland Polytechnic, a cooperative, innovative high school on FTCC’s campus, take college courses tuition-free at FTCC while finishing high school.

“My mom was a principal for 15 years, and after I talked to her about it, I decided I wanted to have two free years of college, be able to further my degree and get a really good education. So I decided to go to Cumberland Polytechnic to be able to get an associate’s degree, so I could reach a higher level faster.

“I started initially in the Associate in Arts program because I wanted a broad program, but then I changed to Business, and I changed again to Forensic Science. I’ve stuck with this, and I’ve had such an amazing opportunity with my instructors and my teachers. They really carry each student on their backs. My experience was incredible. I got everything I needed and wanted from my education to be able to reach those really high steps.

“I’m going to UNC Wilmington to major in Psychology, because I want to be a forensic psychologist.”
