| Many opportunities
are available today to meet your education expenses. The best
source of information and counseling on financial aid is the financial
office at the institution you wish to attend.
Some Major State and Federal
Sources of Aid:
- N.C.'s Federal Family
Education Loan Programs offer subsidized and unsubsidized
low interest loans to students enrolled at eligible instate and
out-of-state institutions, usually through central lender.
- N.C. Student Loan Program
for Health, Science and Mathematics are loans for North Carolina
residents enrolled full-time in associate, baccalaureate, master's
and doctoral level programs of study for health related professions.
- N.C. Student Incentive
Grants are available to students enrolled full-time in post-secondary
N.C. institutions and are based on substantial financial need.
- N.C. Community College
Scholarships are available for students enrolled at least
part-time in a community college curriculum program.
- Pell Grants are
awarded to undergraduate students enrolled at least part-time
in post-secondary institutions who demonstrate financial need.
- Supplemental Education
Opportunities Grants assist undergraduate students who demonstrate
exceptional financial need. These grants are awarded directly
to their institution.
Many privately-funded grants
and scholarships are also available to N.C. residents and frequently
operated through the educational institutions. There are various
federal and state grants and scholarships are available for specialized
career fields and for special population such as Vocational Rehabilitation
Scholarships, rehabilitation Assistance for the Visually Impaired,
Minority Presence Grants, Programs for Native Americans, etc.
