Many opportunities are available today to meet your education expenses.  The best source of information and counseling on financial aid is the financial office at the institution you wish to attend.

Some Major State and Federal Sources of Aid:

  • N.C.'s Federal Family Education Loan Programs offer subsidized and unsubsidized low interest loans to students enrolled at eligible instate and out-of-state institutions, usually through central lender.
  • N.C. Student Loan Program for Health, Science and Mathematics are loans for North Carolina residents enrolled full-time in associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctoral level programs of study for health related professions.
  • N.C. Student Incentive Grants are available to students enrolled full-time in post-secondary N.C. institutions and are based on substantial financial need.
  • N.C. Community College Scholarships are available for students enrolled at least part-time in a community college curriculum program.
  • Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduate students enrolled at least part-time in post-secondary institutions who demonstrate financial need.
  • Supplemental Education Opportunities Grants assist undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need.  These grants are awarded directly to their institution.

Many privately-funded grants and scholarships are also available to N.C. residents and frequently operated through the educational institutions.  There are various federal and state grants and scholarships are available for specialized career fields and for special population such as Vocational Rehabilitation Scholarships, rehabilitation Assistance for the Visually Impaired, Minority Presence Grants, Programs for Native Americans, etc.
