Congressional Scholars Program Overview 2003-04
(This is information from last year's program. Please note that from year to year, program requirements may change.)

Teachers within the 8th district are provided the opportunity to enroll in a cohort program, which extends throughout the course of one year. Throughout the course of the 2003-04 academic year, based upon successful program completion, teachers will earn continuing education units, a laptop computer to use, skills in the incorporation of technological components within the content area, and be provided with bibliographic instruction introducing the digitized primary documents available via the Library of Congress' database, American Memory.

Congressional Scholars is a yearlong commitment consisting of three components:

1. The Summer Institute (July 29-31, 2003)

2. An evening class from 6 pm - 9 pm on Thursday nights during Fall semester on the campus of FTCC which focuses on the pedagogical components of teaching and the integration of materials available via American Memory.

3. A Mentoring Program conducted during the Spring semester 2004 by the participating teacher.
