eMail POLICY STATEMENT for FTCC Classes:  All students taking an online course or using Blackboard in a class are required to use the e-mail account provided by FTCC to communicate with the instructor and students within the course. Your student email address will be your_username@student.faytechcc.edu.  This address will be pre-loaded into Blackboard. This is where your instructor will be sending you information about the class.

eArmyU students and active army students using Army Tuition Assistance must use the email account provided for them by the Army (name@us.army.mil).

Fayetteville Technical Community College provides each enrolled curriculum student a free email account hosted by Google.  This account is created at the beginning of your first semester and is activated on the first day of the semester.  You can keep this account as long as you wish. To check your student account, you will use your web browser (like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox).  If you do not have one of these browsers installed on your computer, you can download one of them from the page at: http://dladmin.org/blackboard/download.html .

FTCC uses a standard naming convention to establish each account name. This data is taken directly from the registration records. This will also be the login for your Blackboard/Email/Novell accounts. The naming convention is:

• The first seven characters of your last name, the first letter of your first name and last four digits of your Student ID Number (NOT your social security number), which can be found on your Student ID card, your registration statement or registration mailer. (Example: Jane P. OnlineStudent,  ID #1234567 would be onlinesj4567 ).

• If your last name is less than seven characters use your entire last name, the first letter of your first name and last four digits of your Student  ID number, which can be found on your Student ID card, your registration statement or registration mailer. (Example: Jane P. Doe, ID #1234567 would be doej4567 ).

• If your last name is hyphenated or contains another special character do not include the hyphen or special character.  (Example: Jane P. Doe-Smith, ID #1234567 would be doesmitj4567 ).

• Your birthday (mmddyy) is your initial password, with no dashes or spaces. (Example: January 2, 1980 would be 010280).

• During your initial login, your password will be your birth date (MMDDYY).  After initial login to your Email account or Novell account you will be required to change your password.
  
  Write your new password down so you will remember what you changed it to.

Your email address will look like this: yourusername@student.faytechcc.edu . 

When you connect to http://student.faytechcc.edu  then click the login button, you will see the following Logon Screen:

• You enter your User name in the first line for User Name.  You enter your password in the second line.
