  1. All opened Mail, Task, Note and Appointment items that are older than 189 days will automatically be DELETED from all folders to include all file cabinet folders and calendar items; this includes any you may have in your GroupWise Main window.  These deleted items are sent to the Trash folder.  To keep items permanently they must be ARCHIVED.

Any deleted items, that have not been "Emptied" from the Trash can be retrieved from the Trash folder for 14 days.  After the 14 days they are deleted completely from the system.

  1. To Archive a message, highlight it with a Left-Click**.

Right-click the Name field of that item and from that menu click "Move To Archive".

(If you click the subject field it will give you a totally different menu).

To look at your Archived messages, click File on the main window Command Bar (at the top of the screen), then choose "Open Archive".

To return to your current messages, click File and "Open Archive" again.

You will notice there is a check beside the "Open Archive" option.  That means it is a toggle and will take you back to your main mailbox window.

Occasionally go to your Archive window and clean out any unneeded messages you may have.

If you have your e-mail in a folder on your main desktop and archive the items in that folder then GroupWise will create that same folder in the Archive for you.  If you prefer you can go out to your Archive and create any folder you may need before Archiving.

(**Click = left mouse button)

For selecting multiple items, select the first with a "Click" then press "Shift" and "Click" on the bottom item to get all or "Ctrl" and "Click" to randomly select.

  1. Every GroupWise user on main campus and Spring Lake has a user's directory on the server (S:\username) and this is where your "Archived" items file gwarch resides.  You may also save any documents that you have in this same users directory.  You cannot use your archive unless you are using a PC connected to the network on campus.  Instructions on how to save documents to your user's directory are in another attached document.
  1. You can also access your GroupWise mail via the web with GroupWise WebAccess.  You must have a password set in the GroupWise e-mail client before attempting to log in to GroupWise WebAccess.  To navigate to the GroupWise WebAcess and other info, go to this address within your web browser:  https://groupwise.faytechcc.edu/gw/webacc.
