learning by attending the intermediate Bonsai class. At this level, you will
do more designing of your own trees to expose their "essence". Through the
art of Bonsai you will learn how to tell the story of each tree through illusion.
One difficult aspect of Bonsai is the development of style, the final design
reached. One method of developing that style is to copy known successful
designs. One must study different Bonsai masters to gain an understanding
of how to develop the plant through correct pruning. Each week you will be
asked to bring a plant to design and tools with help from your instructor.
Your instructor has prepared a reference book that will help you in all aspects
of developing a Bonsai. You will be required to read sections each week on
plant selection, root pruning, trimming, watering, and feeding-everything
you need to know.
