Current Class Schedules
PURPOSES
The purposes of Continuing Education are:
- to provide educational opportunities for interested adults.
- to provide an innovative Basic Skills Education Program (ABE, GED,
HRD, ESL, AHS, and CED) in locations easily accessible to interested
adults throughout Cumberland County.
- to provide a community-wide program of adult education which includes
instruction to prepare adults for better job opportunities, promotion
in present employment, civic and community leadership, and family living.
- to provide a centralized assessment and retention program for Basic
Skills Education.
- to offer special training programs for new and expanding industry
in the county which provide a labor force possessing necessary skills
to make the industry immediately productive.
- to provide for the educational needs of the military and family members
at Ft. Bragg and Pope Air Force Base and to expand in-service staff
development programs for civil service employees.
- to provide training for local law enforcement agencies, fire departments,
rescue services, and to offer lifesaving programs such as CPR and first
aid to all citizens in Cumberland County.
- to provide educational services to special populations in the Cumberland
County area where opportunities beyond the traditional school setting
are required (e.g., ABE and GED Correspondence).
- to conduct instructor training programs for instructors of Continuing
Education.
- to continue to be the educational organization recognized by the
community as receptive to special interest programs.
