The Networking Technology curriculum prepares students for employment supporting local and wide area networks. This program of study teaches students how to plan, install, and support small to medium networks and develops strong analytical skills and extensive computer knowledge.
Course work includes extensive hands-on experience with desktop and network operating systems, networks and related hardware, software, and physical network infrastructure. Classes cover the OSI and TCP/IP network communication models, PC/server operating systems, Cisco routing and switching, media types, topologies, and protocols with installation and support of hardware and software, trouble-shooting network and computer problems, and administrative responsibilities.
Graduates should qualify for positions such as: help desk technician, LAN/PC administrator, computer support specialist, network control operator, communications technician/analyst, network/computer consultant, and information systems specialist. Graduates should be prepared to sit for several industry certification exams which can result in industry-recognized credentials.
