This FAQ page contains answers to the most frequently asked questions about graduation at FTCC.

  • Is there a difference between Tickets, Invitations, and Announcements?
    • No, they are one in the same.
  • Are they required for Friends and Family?
    • No, this event is open to the public
  • Can I order more Announcements?
  • Do the Announcements say my name?
    • No, they only say the time and location of the event. If you wish to purchase announcements that are personalized you may do so through our third party vendor Balfour.
  • I paid the graduation fee what’s next?
    • You will need to ORDER your cap and gown through our third party vendor OAK HALL. Please make sure to include your height and weight
  • What if I never ordered my cap and gown?
    • You can order up to the deadline. You will be responsible for shipping and handling. (Not included in your graduation fee)
  • I am graduating with 2 degrees and paid for both. Am I entitled to 2 Caps and Gowns?
    • No, you only qualify to receive 1
  • What if I am unable to attend the Grad Fair to pick up my cap and gown? Can I send someone in my place?
  • What if I missed Grad Fair and still need to pick up my cap and gown?
  • I am graduating with honors. Do I wear both tassels?
    • No, you are to wear 1 tassel from your mortar cap.
  • What do the colors mean for tassels?
    • Gold Tassels are for GPAs between 3.5-3.99
    • Black Tassels are for GPAs between 2.0-3.49
  • Is there a Veteran Tassel?
    • No, only a Veterans Cord
  • I have participated in certain clubs on campus and have purchased stoles. How many can I wear to the ceremony?
    • You are permitted to wear up to 3 items around your neck and 1 tassel from your cap.
  • What if I lose my tassel? Will you replace it?
    • No, you are responsible for all items. (We congratulate you on your academic success and know you will keep all items together.)

***NOTE – If your cap and gown is picked up by you or your designee, FTCC is at that time not responsible for any loses.

  • FTCC celebrates ALL graduates in one event held in May regardless of the semester you complete your program.
  • I didn’t know I had to apply in December to be a fall graduate. What do I need to do?
    • You can still apply on WebAdvisor for graduation. Select the SPRING term. We only have one ceremony a year and you will still walk with your class.
  • Failed to apply for Spring?
    • Apply for the SUMMER
  • Failed to apply for the Summer?
    • You will need to apply for the following academic year so you can walk at the next graduation.
  • When will we receive our diplomas?
    • Depending on the Term you are graduating from (Fall, Spring, Summer) We will begin mailing them out 4-6 weeks after the Graduation Ceremony.
    • We mail the Fall Graduates first, then 4-6 weeks after that we begin mailing the Spring graduates.
    • All Diplomas should be received by August time frame.
  • What size are the diplomas?
    • The degrees, diplomas, and certificates measure to 8.5 x 11
  • I have moved recently, Can I change my address?
  • How do I request an accommodations?
  • Where is the disabled parking? Where are the disabled entrances?
    • Disability parking is located in the North and East parking lots. Both the North and East entrances have disabled entrances.

***NOTE: More parking spaces are located in the North parking lot.

  • How do I get my cap and gown?
    • The Graduation fee covers the cost of the Cap and Gown; however, it does not include the shipping fees to your home address. You must order HOME DELIVERY and pay for the shipping fees at that time.
    • Do Not Order for Campus Delivery as we will not forward it to your home.
  • Will they mail my tassel and Name Card?
    • No, we will issue them at Rehearsal
  • I want to bring a gift to my graduate. What can I bring into the Coliseum?
    • No food, drinks, flowers, balloons, gift bags, etc. will be allowed in the Coliseum. Please leave all gift items in your car.
  • What if I arrive late to graduation?
    • You can still participate in the ceremony. However, there will be a possibility that you may not sit within your section area.
  • What are NAME CARDS?
    • The name cards are very important! You will be required to bring them to Rehearsal and Graduation.
    • The Name Card is what you will hand the announcer as you walk across the stage.
    • Name Cards are issued at the FTCC Graduation Fair or can be picked up at Rehearsal.
  • I am graduating with multiple degrees and certificates. Will the announcer say all of them?
    • No, We announce your Highest Degree. You will also sit within that department section during the ceremony.
  • Where is Graduation held?
    • The Crown Coliseum Complex 1960 Coliseum Dr, Fayetteville, NC 28306
    • Rehearsal will be held in the same location
  • Can I bring someone to rehearsal?
    • No, The Expo center doors are for Students Only. We ask that NO Children, Friends, and Family come to rehearsal.
  • Where to graduates enter the building?
    • ONLY GRADUATES will enter through the Expo Doors (located off of East Mountain Dr)
    • Enter through the doors that match the color of your Name Card.
  • How long does the ceremony last?
    • The event is estimated to tak up to 1 and 1/2  hours.
    • We recommend that you and your guest EAT before arriving!!
    • We understand that children may grow restless yet, we do ask that you remain for the whole ceremony.
  • Do we walk across the stage individually?
    • Yes
  • Is there a reception after the ceremony?
    • No

***NOTE: Graduates PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! You will be on concrete floors. There will be escalator stairs and standing/ walking involved. For YOUR SAFETY please wear flats or low heels. SPIKE HEELS MAY GET CAUGHT IN THE TREAD OF THE ESCALATOR STEPS CAUSING YOU TO FALL.

  • Where do family/friends enter?
    • ALL guest of graduates enter the Crown through the North and the East entrances.
  • Where is the disabled parking? Where are the disabled entrances?
    • Disability parking is located in the North and East parking lots. Both the North and East entrances have disabled entrances.

  • My GPA was not high enough for graduation. What’s my next step?
  • I still have classes I need to take and I’m not ready for graduation. Can I get a refund?
    • Yes. You can view the Refund Policy  and Graduation Fee Refund form under the Fees & Payments tab located on the Graduation web page.
    • Check with your program advisor is see if you are eligible for Summer program completion.
  • What are Honors?
    • Highest Honors – Students who graduate with a diploma or degree who have earned a GPA of 4.0. (gold cord and tassel)
    • Honors – Students who graduate with a diploma or degree who have earned a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99. (gold tassel)
  • Where can I find my GPA?
    • You can locate your GPA on your Program Evaluation under “Academic Planning”
  • I am graduating with a Certificate Only. Does that qualify for honors?
    • No, only degrees and diplomas qualify for honors status
  • What are NAME CARDS?
    • The name cards are very important! You will be required to bring them to Rehearsal and Graduation.
    • The Name Card is what you will hand the announcer as you walk across the stage.
    • Name Cards are issued at the FTCC Graduation Fair or can be picked up at Rehearsal.

Graduates are encouraged to wear dark colored shoes. If wearing pants, graduates are encourages to wear dark colored pant.
