Cosmetology

Courses

The Cosmetology curriculum is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills.

Course work includes instruction in all phases of:

  • Business and Computer Principles
  • Chemical Processes
  • Hair Design
  • Multicultural Practices
  • Nail Care
  • Other Selected Topics
  • Product Knowledge
  • Professional Imaging
  • Skin Care

Career Paths

Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses.

Uniforms

The process to order and receive your uniform can take up to eight weeks. Students that have uniform requirements for their program of study can place an order in one of the following ways:

Cash, Check, or Credit/Debit Card 

If you are paying for your order out of pocket, you can purchase your supplies directly at Castle Uniforms. You will be required to pay 50% of your total up front.


Financial Aid Orders

To begin your order, you must first go to Castle Uniforms to be fitted. Your order will the be emailed to the FTCC bookstore. Before your order can be further processed, you must:

  1. Fill out a Student Information Sheet
  2. Read and Agree to Order Placement Terms

These documents are available in the bookstore, or can be requested at bookstore@faytechcc.edu

All customized items (anything with the FTCC logo or your name embroidered) can be paid by cash, check, or debit/credit card. The remaining balance of your order can be charged to financial aid.

Note: You can choose to charge your entire order to financial aid, but it cannot be placed until the first day of financial aid charging, which is approximately ten days before the start of classes. This means you will not receive your order before classes begin.

Cosmetology Instructor

Courses

The Cosmetology Instructor curriculum  provides a course of study for learning the skills needed to teach the theory and practice of cosmetology as required by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts. Course work includes requirements for becoming an instructor, introduction to teaching theory, methods and aids, practice teaching, and development of evaluation instruments.

Career Paths

Graduates should qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates of the program may be employed as cosmetology instructors in public or private education and business.

Cosmetology I – Spanish

Fayetteville Technical Community College is now offering Cosmetology through Continuing Education! In Part I of the program students will be introduced to basic and intermediate cosmetology concepts and salon services. This will include sanitation, scalp treatments, safety, haircutting, color, design, and many more related topics.

With successful completion of this two-part, 1500+ hour course, students will be able to take the NC Cosmetic Arts State Board exam to become licensed. Students will be responsible for the additional cost of textbooks, esthetician kit, and uniforms.

¡Fayetteville Technical Community College ahora está ofreciendo cosmetología a través de la educación continua! En la Parte I del programa, los estudiantes serán introducidos a los conceptos básicos e intermedios de cosmetología y servicios de salón. Esto incluirá saneamiento, tratamientos para el cuero cabelludo, seguridad, corte de cabello, color, diseño y muchos más temas relacionados.
