Electronics Engineering Technology

The Electronics Engineering Technology curriculum prepares students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment, and systems such as industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, communication systems, and power electronic systems. Instruction emphasizes mathematics, basic electricity, solid-state fundamentals, digital concepts, and microprocessors or programmable logic controllers.

Course work includes C/C++ programming with applications related to electronics, Internet programming, and interactive 3D gaming. Students learn to program the Robotis Bioloid robots with algorithms such as finite state machines, fuzzy logic and neural networks that make them seem intelligent (AI).

Students learn to program programmable application controllers (PAC) in ladder logic, structured text, sequential function charts and function blocks to sense operating states and generation, including topics on photovoltaic devices in addition to wind- and hydro-powered electrical systems.

Course Descriptions

Graduates should qualify for employment as an electronics engineering technician, field service technician, instrumentation technician, maintenance technician, electronic tester, electronic systems integrator, bench technician, and production control technician.

Graduates may also continue their studies in technology at a university and upon completion, obtain a Bachelor in Engineering Technology.
