Fayetteville Technical Community College has established the following guidelines for students eligible for VA educational benefits and requiring tutorial services:

  1. Only FTCC faculty members and FTCC student's approved by the instructor and Department Chairperson can serve as tutors.

  2. The rate of monies paid for tutorial services may not exceed the following:
Instructors with a Master's Degree or higher $25.00 per hour
Instructors with less than a Master's degree $18.00 per hour
Students $ 8.00 per hour
  1. All instructors are urged to inform these students who show a need for tutorial services that such services are available. Instructors should also help identify and indicate the name of the tutor on the FTCC Application for Tutoring.

  2. The Veterans Administration Regional Office offers reimbursement for tutoring in curriculum-level courses (not Developmental Studies) Chapter 30 and 32 (including those veterans receiving extra payments from the old GI Bill) receive up to $100.00 per month with no entitlement charge for the first $600.00 and a lifetime maximum of $1,200.00. Chapter 35 (dependents) may receive up to $100 per month with a maximum of $1,200.00 with no entitlement charge. Chapter 31 (VA Vocational Rehabilitation) benefits are not held to this limit and may receive tutoring for deficiency/remedial courses.  Reimbursement usually takes 60 days or more.

  3. The tutorial arrangements and payment arrangements are handled on an individual basis between the tutor and the student needing the tutoring as reimbursement is usually made to the veteran.

  4. The FTCC Application for Tutoring form must be on file in the Veterans Service Office, Room 119-Student Center, before tutoring sheets will be signed for VA payment by the Veterans Service Office Coordinator for VA payment.

  5. For Curriculum-level tutoring, the form 22-1990t must be neatly printed and correctly filled out to be signed for payment by the Veterans Services Coordinator.  Questions on filling out these forms should be answered by Veterans Service Office personnel. The VA requires that the VA Form 22-1990t be turned in on a monthly basis.

  6. All tutoring must be performed on a one-on-one basis.
