Admission into a health program has two phases.  First, you must meet the general admissions requirements.  Second, you must be selected through the competitive process to be admitted into your desired program.  Please, take the time to review the slide show that explains the competitive process in more detail.  Further, after you have completed the general admissions requirements, it is highly recommended that you speak with a counselor to discuss in detail the selection process as quickly as possible.

Phase 1:

  1. All students are required to submit an FTCC Application.  Please complete all sections so that your application can be processed quickly and efficiently.  You may submit it on-line, print and mail it, fax it, or drop it off in person at the Admissions Office.

  2. You should begin the application process for Financial Aid and/or VA Benefits as soon as you submit your FTCC application.  For both Financial Aid and VA Benefits, application deadlines are enforced.

  3. All health programs require the completion of the  Placement AssessmentSpeak with a Counselor about possible waivers.

  4. Submit an Official High School Transcript or official GED scores.  You must complete the transcript request form and mail it to the institution.  Some institutions require a fee for transcripts.

  5. Submit Official College Transcript(s) from all colleges that you have attended.  You must complete the transcript request form and mail it to the institution.  Some institutions require a fee for transcripts.

Phase 2:

  1. Apply for your program of choice with Counseling Services by January 30.  Your eligibility will be determined by evaluating assessment scores and transcripts.  Your quality points will be calculated based upon the college courses you have completed.  Click here for example point calculations.

  2. For eligible health program candidates, Health Program Information Session attendance is mandatory.  You should receive a letter telling you when and where during the month of April.  This session is mandatory and you may receive up to 15 points at this session.  Click here to see the criteria used for awarding points.

  3. Based upon the recommendations of the specific Health Department Chairpersons, the Director of Admissions will select the applicants with the highest number of points to be admitted for each health program.  Each health program applicant will be notified of their selection or denial the first week of May.

Successful Students:

Success in a CNA program will help you be successful in our nursing programs!  It is highly recommended that students complete a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prior to starting either the Associate Degree Nursing program or the Practical Nursing Education program.  Talk with your advisor about other things you may be able to do that will increase your successfulness.
