What is Prime Lab?
The Mathematics Division welcomes two new full-time instructors this fall: Mariann Lamoreux and Joannis Rodgers. With the addition of these two new faculty members, the Mathematics Division now has thirty-one full-time instructors.
Joannis Rodgers is already familiar to the math division and many of our students. After teaching developmental mathematics classes part-time for FTCC while working on her masters degree, she has now become a full-time faculty member. Ms. Rodgers received her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and her Masters in Mathematics Education from Fayetteville State University. She has lived in most areas of North Carolina, but has called Fayetteville home for the past 9 years and looks forward to being here for many more. She is an active member of Manna Church and lists jewelry-making as one of her favorite hobbies. She is currently taking the Effective Online Teaching Course designed to prepare FTCC faculty for teaching Internet classes.
Mariann Lamoreux received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Lebanon Valley College (Annville, PA) in 1988. In 1992, she received a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA). She has instructed classes in AP Statistics, Algebra, and Geometry at the high school level in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At the college level, she has instructed Statistics, College Algebra and developmental math courses for the past ten years. Ms. Lamoreux comes to us from Pennsylvania and is looking forward to living in Fayetteville's temperate climate. Although new to FTCC, she has already begun volunteering in the Success Center, a campus facility where students can receive tutoring in English, Science, and Mathematics.
Both Ms. Rodgers and Ms. Lamoreux are teaching MAT 070 classes this semester. Ms. Rodgers is also teaching MAT 115, Mathematical Models. Ms. Lamoreux is teaching a full range of developmental mathematics classes, from MAT 050 to MAT 080.
