MOTORCYCLE SAFETY




MOTORCYCLE: BASIC RIDER COURSE        Fee: $120
Learn safe motorcycle riding under the direction of Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified instructors. This beginning course is designed for riders with little or no experience. Based on extensive data, research, and field tests, this course combines classroom and on-bike experience to give overall understanding of motorcycling and prepares the student with basic riding skills. Motorcycles are provided. You will need gloves, eye protection, long-sleeved clothing, long pants, and sturdy over-the-ankle leather footwear. Helmets will be provided, but you may bring your own. You must be able to ride a bicycle. For more information, please visit www.ncmotorcyclesafety.org. BECAUSE CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED, PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Students may purchase accident insurance to cover class activities for $2 per term (available from the Continuing Education Records and Registration office). NOTE: If you would like to preview the course workbook or print out a copy prior to coming to class, it can be found on the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Program's website at www.msf-usa.org. NOTE: The North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Education Program requires 100% attendance. You must be in attendance at 5:45 pm. Failure to be on time may result in your slot being denied.

MOTORCYCLE: EXPERIENCED RIDER COURSE        Fee: $60
This 11-hour course, designed for students with at least six months of riding experience, stresses both the mental and physical aspects of riding, gives specific information on how to lower the risks of riding, and provides training and practice in critical riding skills. Required equipment includes long pants, eye protection, helmet, gloves, over-the-ankle leather footwear, and long-sleeved jacket. You may use your own motorcycle or a borrowed one with written permission from the owner of the vehicle and you will need proof of insurance and a motorcycle endorsement on a valid driver's license. Each motorcycle must pass a "T-Clock" inspection by the instructor. BECAUSE CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED, PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Students may purchase accident insurance to cover class activities for $2 per term (available from the Continuing Education Records and Registration office).
