ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY COURSE SCHEDULE
scroll down for links to course names and
descriptions This curriculum is designed
to provide individuals with manipulative drafting skills and a basic knowledge of architectural
construction. Because the architectural draftsman or designer
associates with many levels of personnel - administrative, architects,
engineers, and skilled workmen - they must be able to communicate
effectively with them. These courses are arranged in a sequence that
will provide an orderly method of accomplishment, not only in hand/computer
drafting skills, but also in mathematics, science, communications and human
relations, and industrial organization. Students will gain confidence
and the ability to advance rapidly in proficiency upon entering the field of
work.
Students in the Architectural Technology program prepare clear, complete and
accurate working drawings, artistic presentation drawings, learn contract
and estimating tasks, and gain knowledge of the architectural, structural
and mechanical features of many classes of buildings and like structures.
Upon
completion of the program, students receive an Associate in Applied Science degree. Graduates
have career opportunities within architectural, engineering, and construction
professions as well as positions in industry and government.
Admission and Registration
Admission to the college requires a high school diploma. A state equivalency
certificate or GED test results which meet NC equivalency standards are acceptable
in lieu of a high school diploma. Students will be scheduled for the placement
test upon receipt of an application and transcripts.
