Architectural Technology Organization
by-laws
Article I – Purpose
Section 1:
To promote better educational
studies in the field of Architectural Drafting,
Design, and related
Technologies.
Section 2:
The goals of the Architectural
Technology Organization are to:
* Create interest and understanding of Architectural Drafting and Design.
* Encourage development of individual projects, which contribute to the
transition from school to work.
* Assist students in the establishment of occupational goals.
* Build confidence of students in their work and themselves.
* Support and participate in projects and activities that would develop
professional and community support.
Article II – Parliamentary Procedure
Robert’s Rules
of Order, or any other rules this organization wishes to adopt, shall govern in
all cases to which they are applicable.
Article III – Membership
Section 1:
Full-time students registered in the Architectural Technology Curriculum of this
institute are eligible for membership.
Section 2:
All members are required to pay a membership fee which will be used to
promote
this organization.
Fee may be levied by the organization to meet
operating expenses.
Fee must be paid in full at the beginning of the fiscal year.
Section 3:
Any membership is subject to
termination by the following:
* Failure to pay all of fee within a reasonable amount of
time.
* Unnecessary absence from regularly scheduled meeting.
* Failure to perform duties of any office of activities to which duly appointed.
Section 4:
If at anytime a member secedes to
discontinue membership, he or she therefore
forfeits all funds paid to this
organization.
Article IV – Organization
Section 1:
This organization shall elect from
its members: a President, Vice-President,
Secretary, and Treasurer. These
elected officials shall
assume duties from
the time of the close of the meeting at which they were
elected.
Section 2:
The organization will have an
Advisor, who shall be a faculty member from the
Architectural Technology
Curriculum.
Section 3:
The election of officials must be by
ballot. If there are more than two nominees
for given office and one receives a
two-thirds majority of votes, that
one then
will be declared elected. If a majority is not obtained, the
nominee with the least
number of votes will be eliminated from the ballot and
the
process repeated until
a nominee receives a majority.
Section 4:
In case of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice-President shall serve
as
President.
In case of a vacancy in any other office, a special election will be held.

Section 5:
Duties of Officers:
President – shall preside over all meetings of the organization,
prepare an
agenda for all meetings, appoint all committees and committee
chairperson, promote the growth and development of this organization.
Vice-President – shall serve as President in the absence of the
President.
Vice-President shall also be an advisory member of all
committees.
Secretary – shall perform duties in accordance with the
instructions received
from the President and Faculty Advisor. Will submit
immediately after an
election, a list of officers for the term to the Advisor. Will maintain
and keep
records of all meetings and notify all members of regular or special
meetings at
least three days in advance, and notify committees of appointments.
Will
submit an annual report on the organization’s activities during the
year to the
Advisor and proper school officials.
Treasurer – shall act as the custodian of the funds of the
organization, collect
fees, and submit an itemized, financial report at the end
of the fiscal year,
and shall perform duties in accordance with the instructions received from the
President and Advisor.
Article V – Authority
Disbursements of all monies, properties, and other
items of value shall require the signature of no less than two officers of the
organization, one of which shall be the Treasurer of the organization.
Article VI– Limitations
In the event of dissolution, or any other event
causing this organization to cease, all monies, properties, and other items of
value shall be donated to charity.
Article VII – Meetings
Monthly meeting shall be held at a time and place
as decided by the members of this organization. Occasional call meetings
will also take place if necessary. Meetings during the summer months will
only be held if the organization member so elect. All organization
meetings shall be conducted with proper earnestness and dignity and in keeping
with the purpose of this organization and Fayetteville Technical Community
College.
